Trip to Norway, May 2017

Thanks to Kristin's hours of work reading Rick Steve's Norway book, then hours  on the internet planning our destinations to musuems, stave churches etc., our rides on trams, trains, ferry boats, a rental car and airlines, our reservations on Air B &B, a cabin at a Norwegian farm, a century old hotel on a fjord, we had the trip of a lifetime to Oslo, Frederickstad,  Lillehammer, Lom, the Jotunheimen Mountains, the Sognefjord, Balestrand, Flam, Bergen and Amsterdam.

The trip was due to Kristin's expertise and love of travel.  She adheres to the Nielson Travel Policy, see everything you can in a country while there is still daylight. Daylight lasted from 4:30 AM to 11 PM, so there was not a moment wasted. We cannot thank Kristin enough for her extraordinary efforts.  We enjoyed Ryan's company, ask him how many legs a roasted chicken has and the company of  six year old Thor, who we called Damon.  He traveled with his hammer, Mjolnir. However, he visited a toy store in Bergen and morphed into a Viking with helmet, sword and shield. The Viking traveled to Salt Lake with us and fell asleep in the baggage claim area.  A 9.5 hour on a plane is exhausting for anyone, even a Viking.

Park City Reunion Sep 2016

Hi All,

We had a fun sibling reunion in Park City.  Sean rented an ATV and Sean, Sandy, Kim and Dad went on the ATV ride.   They loved the ride, particularly the manly part of getting dusty and dirty and seeing wildlife--they actually saw some wild turkeys. While they went on the ride, Mom and I drove through Wasatch State Park and saw spectacular scenery.  That evening we ate a salmon dinner and played “The Game of Things”.  Sean won, but Kim was the biggest cheater face of all time.  The next day was tennis, hiking, looking at art galleries, eating dinner at the Blue Iguana and then watching the BYU-Utah football game.  We left the next morning.  A good time was had by all.

Hi All,

Attached are pictures of Kim completing her eighth (that's what she says but at her age, how can a person remember?) Ogden marathon.  Congratulations!  She is an inspiration to us all...

Sibling Bike Ride in Provo Canyon May 2016

Hello All,

We had a lovely sibling bike ride this year going up Provo Canyon.  This is the second year we've done this and we've had a great time both years.  After the ride we went to Conrad and Debbie's house for turkey burgers.  We enjoyed it so much we plan to make it a tradition.

Parker Wedding St Louis Aug 2015

Hi All,

Dad, Conrad, Craig, Karla and Sean went to St Louis for Parker's wedding. Before the wedding, we saw the famous St Louis arch.  It is an amazing story about how the arch was built.  We went out to dinner with Ryan at a lovely Italian restaurant.

The next day, Dad conducted the sealing and did an excellent job.  The happy couple looked very happy.  Afterwards we ate lunch at Squires in St Louis.  The food was excellent and we enjoyed the company and toasts to the bride and groom.

Afterwards on the way to the reception, we stopped in to the Lincoln museum in Springfield.  We got there an hour before closing and the staff there were much putout that we wanted to go in, but they finally let us in.  Afterwards we saw the home and street where Lincoln lived when he lived in Springfield.

The reception was held at a member’s home in Champaigne Illinois.  We enjoyed talking to Ryan, Doris, Riley and Rachel.

On the way home that night we had a run-in with a loose tire.  Our vehicle was following a trailer.  After a loud explosion a wheel came flying off the trailer and hit our vehicle.  Conrad got us safely off the road.  After 2 hours we finally got towed to St Louis.

Note below the picture of the trailer's axle.  You can see the axle becaue it doesn't have a tire on it.  It doesn't have a tire on it because the tire exploded off it and hit our vehicle.
